Awards and Quality Standards
FSC® stands for the traceability and the considerate handling of the available raw material wood, which comes from well-managed forests - in which controlled, certified and resource-saving cultivation takes place. We only use paper packaging with the FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) seal. This is how we ensure that all of our cardboard packaging comes from sustainable forestry.
A big part of the energy used derives from renewable sources, mainly from hydrodynamic power. Sollenau also uses photovoltaics on site.
Wherever possible we use alternatives to palm oil. Since 2012 Wewalka is a certified member of RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil), and has been using only RSPO certified palm oil ever since, which also includes RSPO SG certified palm oil. SG stands for the segregation, which ensures the palm oil comes from certified raw material sources and is therefore clearly separated from non-sustainable goods. In this case, oils from several certified plantations may be mixed together. This guarantees a corresponding certainty of the availability of goods, since this option represents a corresponding volume on the market.

With buying only Rainforest Alliance-certified cocoa, Wewalka supports plantations with sustainable growth of cocoa.
The Rainforest Alliance is working to solve some of the most pressing social and environmental issues of our time—including the climate crisis—by changing the way the world produces and consumes. When you choose Rainforest Alliance Certified [product], you are supporting the farmers who are looking after their workers and our natural resources.
The Rainforest Alliance seal means that farmers follow more sustainable farming practices that protect forests, improve their livelihoods, promote human rights of farm workers, and help them mitigate and adapt to the climate crisis.
